Where it is

3, 908 Memorial Drive N.W.

The history

Glenwood Manor was built in 1928 in response to the city’s burgeoning oil industry and the resulting population boom. Glenwood’s Georgian Revival architecture and amenities made it one of the nicest apartment buildings at the time. The was storage for each suite, a billiard room and tenants could choose between hookups for either a gas or electric stove. Managers, entrepreneurs and professionals called it home. When it was built, Sunnyside was still considered a suburb. It was designated as a historic site in 1997.

What to love

The historic elements of this condo – crystal doorknobs, hardwood flooring and radiators – are balanced with new additions, including an updated kitchen and bathroom. The space looks and feels modern, but has some character. The private back entrance has extra storage and easy access to the shared courtyard. Glenwood Manor is also across the street from the Peace Bridge, which is like having a piece of modern art hanging in your living room.

What to consider

Glenwood Manor’s proximity to the Bow River and Kensington is awesome, but it’s also right on a very busy stretch of Memorial Drive.
