The Class of 2017 Top 40 Under 40  honourees were celebrated October 30 at Avenue Calgary's annual Top 40 Under 40 gala event, held again this year at the Jack Singer Lobby at Arts Commons.

A total of 46 exceptional people joined the long list of Avenue Top 40 Under 40 Alumni, including 20 women and 26 men (there were six co-honourees). This year’s list of Calgary’s best and brightest in their sectors was selected from more than 400 nominations by a panel of judges who are experts in their fields as well as Avenue senior staff.

The gala was full of game-changers, entrepreneurs, artists, researchers, elite medical professionals and their adoring loved ones, family members and colleagues.

Starting out the night was a song and piano performance by Class of 2015 Top 40 Under 40 alumnus Kenna Burima. Following that was a video address from Mayor Naheed Nenshi, who expressed his congratulations as a former Top 40 Under 40.

Emcee, Global Calgary’s, Kris Laudien introduced the Class of 2017 to a crowd of more than 500 guests. And, after a giant class photo Burima closed out the night with more soulful music.
