Understudy: Calgary's New Menswear Shop

Calgary's newest menswear shop, Understudy, is a collaboration between Aaron Ellard, Liam Rodgers and Reid Pollock — all of whom have worked extensively with prominent Calgary clothing retailers like Worth, Henry Singer and The Gallery. Now they're bringing their experience to create a menswear retail spot that focuses on both trend setting and top quality products, while also looking to pursue lifestyle items ranging from men's skin care products, to magazines, to footwear and accessories.

The esthetic is contemporary casual, offering clothing with finer fabrics and longevity built in. Plus, according to Ellard, Understudy carries some great brands that aren't available anywhere else in Calgary. So if you've been dying to get ahold of the APC's French fashions, the Norse Projects' Danish flare or Reigning Champ's homegrown Canadian touch, Understudy could be the place for you.

And if you're a man who wants to look good but doesn't quite know how to put himself together, you can count on a fashion expert at Understudy to give you a hand. Understudy's only staff are its three owners, so the service and environment are top notch.

Understudy is located at 1312 1 St. S.W. Calgary, Alberta and is open Monday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
