Starting at 5 p.m. from Wednesday to Sunday, Namo’s Beltline location transforms into Anantaya, a pop-up experience highlighting East Indian cuisine. One of the best ways to experience the pop-up is by ordering Thali, a set of 12 complementary dishes for the astonishingly good price of $34. The 12 dishes include three curries, the daal of the day, bread, rice, raita, dessert and more.

Black Forest Fog from Black Sheep

You’ve heard of a London Fog drink, but have you tried the Black Forest Fog at Black Sheep? The local bakery makes its take on the classic drink with milk, cherry and almond syrup, English breakfast tea and cocoa powder, and finishes it with a house made shortbread cookie.

Located in Haysboro, Hey Sugar is the latest addition to Calgary’s bakery scene. In addition to macarons, cookies and cupcakes, the bakery offers a variety of tempting yeast doughnut flavours ranging from salted caramel apple to dulce almond. We’ve got our eye on the lemon sugar doughnut filled with lemon curd, rolled in sugar and finished off with torched meringue and lemon curd on top.

Invented in Calgary, ginger beef is one of the city’s most iconic dishes. And now, vegans can get in on the action thanks to Padmanadi, whose plant-based version of the dish is the restaurant’s best seller. The Indonesian restaurant makes the dish with soy beef strips, julienne carrots and sweet bell peppers that are covered in a ginger sauce.

Faux Gras from Primary Colours

Called “Faux Gras,” the dish is made with walnut mousse instead of animal liver, and also features red wine raisins, coffee gel and sourdough crackers.
