The top 3 from Avenue Calgary's 2014 Best Restaurant Awards.
Whether it’s the towering seafood platter, chock full of sustainable seafood, a refined take on a dungeness crab cake or a butter-poached lobster dish that practically embodies the word “rich,” executive chef Kyle Groves and his team at Catch do right by seafood every day of the year. At lunch, take a seat downstairs for a more casual oyster-bar experience, but definitely head upstairs in the evening for a romantic date in the gorgeous dining room.

2. Big Fish
You can count on chef and owner Dwayne Ennest to do up his seafood the unpretentious way: inventive, hearty and packed with flavour, whether it’s the pan roasted Manitoba Walleye with wilted spinach, crispy pancetta and pinenuts, or the Asian-style halibut hot pot. A great sharing platter is the spread of smoked oysters, house-cured salmon pate, candied trout jerky and smoked trout and mackerel. Swing by Monday night for two-for-one oysters by the dozen. The dining room and vibe is casual and comfortable.

3. Pelican Pier
With kitschy, but lovable, nautical decor and delicious fish ‘n’ chips, Pelican proves you don’t always have to be the coolest space on the block to deliver great seafood.
