8 Things to Look Forward to at PARKshow 2014
Join top designers for this year's PARKshow with exclusive designs, live art, music and more
PARKshow (PARK stands for "Promoting Artists, Redefining Kulture") is an annual consumer-focused fashion, music and art show.
The event, which takes place this Saturday, March 15, gives emerging artists and fashion designers from Calgary and Western Canada the opportunity to show and sell their work. Fashion designer, stylist and PARK president and co-founder, Kara Chomistek, describes PARKSHOW as “a dangerous event for your wallet.”
Here’s a preview of what to look out for at the show.
CAMP Brand Goods
Established in 2011, PARKshow is CAMP’s first venture onto the runway. Exploding in Calgary and gaining recognition in Vancouver, Toronto and L.A, the brand is known for its high-quality fleece and casual wear that reflects an outdoors lifestyle.
The saying goes, “if it’s not comfortable, it’s not Camp.”
Calgary-based jewellery designer, Dorien Kitsch will be unveiling her new collection exclusively at PARKshow. Coutu Kitsch designs draw on Kitsh's Metis heritage and are hand crafted with vintage supplies, precious metals, and beautiful gemstones. The collection is designed for customers with a unique style who are not afraid to express themselves.

Founded in 2011 by designer Eric Goodwin, the EG Forge line is inspired by alpine mountains and pilot wear. The collection features handcrafted bags and jackets made from waterproof waxed canvas and oil-tanned leather.
EG Forge's messenger bag is designed to make a statement without sticking out.
Mercedes-Benz Start Up Semi Finalists
Following the success of their collections in last spring’s Mercedes-Benz Start Up competition the below is a preview of what designers LUXX (Derek Jagodzinsky), Malika (Malika Rajani) and Rebecca King (Rebecca Farthing) will bring to the PARKshow runway.
Derek Jagodzinsky's (LUXX) collection is inspired, in part, by Cree syllabic (native writing).
Malika is popular for its soft lambskin jackets,
dresses and pants.

Minimalist jewellery designer Hunt Amor will be showing her collection with fellow Edmonton designer SUKA Clothing, whose collection features street-ready designs, and Regina-based Kazz Clothing by Ashley Kasdorf, who will be showing a collection described as European chic with a laid back modern approach.
Hunt Amor's collection includes the Simple Isos necklace,
Hex cuff and Two Finger ring.
Regina-based designer Ashley Kasdorf's line, Kazz, features clean lines and experimental cuts.
Mexican-inspired restaurant, Añejo, will be serving a variety of food in the VIP area including, Adobo pulled pork and mango chicken tacos, Para la Mesa guacamole and ginger coconut shrimp.

The show also features Bano eeMee by Aleem Arif and music from Calgary’s hip hop dj and producer, DJ Disoriental plus a VIP nail bar from Butter beauty salon.
