The shopping centre has a few more tenants set to open, giving us even more reasons to stop by.

Coming Soon

Indigo

Remember 1998 and You’ve Got Mail when we were all upset about the small independent bookshops being forced to close. Fast-forward to 2015 and the same scenario is playing out for big box bookstores; however, it appears that the online megastores haven’t edged out Chapters-Indigo quite yet. Chapters is officially rebranding as Indigo at Chinook Centre location and expanding its current lifestyle and home offering. According to Retail Insider, the new Indigo will be adding 5,500 square feet of space to the current store, taking over the HMV location next door. More books will be added as well as more of their popular lifestyle and home selection. We can’t get enough of their mugs, throw pillows and candles, so bring on the expansion. The addition and re-branding should be complete by fall 2015.

American Girl Boutique

The new Indigo will also house a new shop-in-store concept, the American Girl boutique. Little girls all over Calgary are squealing with delight over this 1,800-square-feet modern-day doll shop that features the entire American Doll line-up, accessories, furniture and more. And if your darling daughter or son can’t quite get enough of the American Girl experience, he or she can also book hair appointments for their doll at the in-store salon. The variety of ‘dos can run you up $5 to $25 depending on the style. Or you could skip right to the doll’s right of passage; an ear piercing will cost you $14.

Club Monaco Men’s Boutique

Taking over the old Purdy’s location is a new Club Monaco Men’s Shop. While the details are still under wraps, Club Monaco is currently hiring for positions at the shop online.

Kate Spade

Quintessentially cute retailer Kate Spade New York will soon be right here in Calgary. The quirky brand known for its love of punchy cocktails and witty one-liners will be bringing its roster of vintage-inspired handbags and soire-ready cocktail frocks to the halls of Chinook Centre. The opening date is still currently unknown but the company is currently advertising shop positions online.

Ecco Shoes

Scandinavian shoe brand Ecco is making its stand-alone boutique debut just south of Chinook’s centre court. The shoe purveyor currently has locations in Deerfoot Meadows and Cross Iron Mills. Using Scandinavian design principles for their shoe and accessory collections, Ecco creates classic styles for a modern lifestyle. Taking note of elements like material, shape and colour, each shoe has been well-thought out in terms of design and comfort.

House of Hoops by Foot Locker

Self-proclaimed “sneaker-heads” are going to freak out of over the addition of House of Hoops to Chinook Centre. The shinier, fancier boutique shop from Foot Locker is set to open later this fall. Sneaker enthusiasts who collect, trade and admire sneakers on a regular basis can pop in to the store that celebrates the culture of basketball both on and off the courts.

Purdy’s

The Vancouver-based chocolatier has been in business at Chinook Centre since 1970. This fall Purdy’s is set to expand in a new locations across from Banana Republic.

Now Open

Banana Republic Renovation & Concept

Banana Republic stayed open while the store received a much-deserved overhaul. The new shopping experience debuted on June 27th. The change is timely as Creative Director Marissa Webb’s first collections for Summer and fall/winter 2015 hit the stores. Aptly tagged #TheNewBR, the new designs conceptualized by Webb are notably less office-oriented and more reflective of a day-to-night lifestyle. Banana Republic has also promised a return to its roots in safari-inspired garb.

American Apparel

Popular sportswear company American Apparel recently uprooted its 17th Avenue S.W. shop and moved into a fresh new location on the second floor of Chinook Centre, neighbouring Nordstrom. Offering a broad selection of basics in every colour imaginable, you can pick up tees, leggings, hoodies and more for everyone in the family – including the dog!

Hot Topic

Flashback to the early 2000s when it seemed like “mall goth” was a real trend and the subcultures of pop-punk, rockabilly and psychobilly were kind of a big deal. Hot Topic was the brand that brought the music lovers their band tees and the subcultural girls their latex leggings. 2015 marks the year when Hot Topic finally comes to Calgary and opens up shop at Chinook Centre this summer. While the brand has definitely evolved along with music and comic book trends since their inception in 1988, the shop still reigns high on the list for clothing and accessories with an edgy bent.

Pottery Barn Kids

This lifestyle store devoted to kids is opened recently, providing Calgary with a go-to source for quality furniture, bedding, toys and decor. Pottery Barn Kids is currently offering its first third-party collaboration with designer Jenni Kayne.
