The Calgary Stampede runs July 7 to 16 this year. And along with rodeo events and Midway food and cowboy boots, that means plenty of Stampede breakfasts.

Here are breakfasts we think you should have on your radar. Try to make as many of them as possible. 


First Flip Stampede Breakfast

When: Thursday, July 6

Where: Stephen Avenue Walk between Centre St. and 1 St. S.E. 

Cost: Free

Why you should go to this breakfast:

It's the first official pancake breakfast of Stampede. This is where it all starts. 

 

Stampede Breakfast at Raw Canvas

When: Friday, July 7

Where: Raw Canvas, 1130 Kensington Rd. N.W.

Cost: Free

Why you should go to this breakfast: 

The pancakes here are made to look Western. Think pancakes in the shape of horses, cowboy hats, cowboys — basically, whatever Stampede-like shape you request. Then, you decorate the pancake with toppings.  ​

 

57th Annual CF Chinook Centre Stampede Breakfast

When: Saturday, July 8 

Where: Chinook Centre, 6455 Macleod Tr. S.W. 

Cost: Free

Why you should go to this breakfast: 

This one is huge. If you're only going to one breakfast, and you want it to be a big experience, mark this one in your calendar.

 

Wendy T's Gluten Free Stampede Breakfast

When: Saturday, July 8

Where: Marda Loop Community Centre, 3130 16 St. S.W. 

Cost: $5 per person or $10 per family

Why you should go to this breakfast: 

If you can't eat gluten, you can still experience an authentic Stampede breakfast here. Food and cash donations are accepted at this breakfast. 

 

Scandinavian Centre Stampede Breakfast

When: Saturday, July 8 

Where: Scan Centre, 739 20 Ave. N.W.

Cost: Free

Why you should go to this breakfast:

This breakfast has square dancing as well as the usual pancakes, sausage and orange juice. 

 

Pancake Breakfast at Ruberto Ostberg Gallery

When: Saturday, July 8

Where: Ruberto Ostberg Gallery, 2108 18 St. N.W. 

Cost: Free

Why you should go to this breakfast:

Eat some pancakes, admire some art. Attend this Stampede breakfast if you haven't had a chance to see the group art show "Connections 2017" — this is your last chance to see the work. The pancakes are made by participating artists of "Connections 2017."

 

Get Stacked: Vegan Pancake Breakfast

When: Saturday, July 8

Where: Bridgeland Riverside Community Association, 917 Centre Ave. N.E. 

Cost: Free

Why you should go to this breakfast: 

This is the first all-inclusive vegan Stampede breakfast in the history of the Stampede. So if you're vegan, this is the breakfast for you. 

 

Chuckwagon Breakfasts

When: Saturday, July 8 to Saturday, July 16 (no breakfasts on July 9 or 16)

Where: Olympic Plaza, 228 8 Ave. S.E. 

Cost: Free

Why you should go to this breakfast:

If you miss the first one on July 8, that's okay. These breakfasts run almost every day of the Calgary Stampede. 

 

Calgary Japanese Community Association Stampede Breakfast

When: Saturday, July 8

Where: Calgary Nikkei Cultural and Senior Centre, 2236 29 St. S.W.

Cost: Free

Why you should go to this breakfast:

There will be cultural performances by Midnight Taiko Kai, as well as line dancing, at this breakfast. Donations for the Calgary Food Bank are accepted. 

 

Priddis Stampede Breakfast

When: Sunday, July 9

Where: Priddis Community Association, 178131 Priddis Valley Rd. W. 

Cost: $5

Why you should go to this breakfast:

At 10 a.m., a time capsule from 1967 is going to be opened. And there's a Stampede market here, too. 

 

CrossIron Mills Caravan Breakfast

When: Monday, July 10

Where: CrossIron Mills, 261055 Crossiron Blvd.

Cost: Free

Why you should go to this breakfast:

Bring the whole family to this Stampede breakfast because there are pony rides and a petting zoo as well as the free breakfast. 

 

44th Annual Bullshooters Breakfast

 

When: Tuesday, July 11

Where: Telus Convention Centre, 120 9 Ave. S.E.

Cost: $130

Why you should go to this breakfast: 

This breakfast has been running for more than four decades and it's a real Western affair. Everyone dresses in cowboy boots and denim and country music bands perform live. There's a full breakfast buffet and a drink tickets. And, if you're feeling up for it, know that there's also a mechanical bull. 

 

Calgary Parking Authority Stampede Breakfast

When: Tuesday, July 11

Where: Calgary Parking Authority, 620 9 Ave. S.W. 

Cost: Free

Why you should go to this breakfast:

Take a photo of the CPA Cow and you might win $100 worth of parking. 

 

Bootleggin' Breakfast 2017

When: Tuesday, July 11

Where: Westin Calgary, 320 4 Ave. S.W. 

Cost: $135

Why you should go to this breakfast: 

There will be some big names in country music performing at this large indoor Stampede party. Both Gord Bamford, a 24-time CCMA winner and Adam Gregory, a CCMA and Juno Award-winner, will be performing. The event supports Zero Hungry Kids

 

4th Annual Amber Approved Stampede Breakfast

When: Wednesday, July 12

Where: Hotel Arts, 119 12 Ave. S.W. 

Cost: $50

Why you should go to this breakfast:

At this breakfast, you'll find gourmet-inspired, healthy alternatives to traditional Calgary Stampede breakfast items. Some healthy alternatives you will find include gluten-free pancakes, breakfast poutine with avocado cream, organic juice shots and nitrite-free sausage. There's also a juice bar. This breakfast raises money for Meals on Wheels

 

Century Calgary Stampede Breakfast

When: Wednesday, July 12

Where: Century Casino, 1010 42 Ave. S.E. 

Cost: Free

Why you should go to this breakfast:

You could meet chuckwagon driver Dustin Gorst, get his autograph and chat with him about his sport. 

 

3rd Annual Minas Stampede Breakfast

When: Wednesday, July 12

Where: Minas Brazilian Steakhouse, 136 2 St. S.W. 

Cost: $2 or a non-perishable food item

Why you should go to this breakfast:

Expect good things from a steakhouse. Last year, this breakfast had pancakes, sausage and scrambled eggs, roast pork loin, ham, rice with beans and Minas' own mini donuts. Proceeds or food donations support the Calgary Food Bank.

 

Pink Stampede Breakfast

When: Wednesday, July 12

Where: Southcentre Mall, 100 Anderson Rd. S.E. 

Cost: Free

Why you should go to this breakfast:

Expect pink pancakes at this breakfast that supports the CIBC Run for the Cure.

 

The Buckn' Breakfast

When: Wednesday, July 12 and Friday, July 14

Where: Knoxville's Tavern, 840 9 Ave. S.W. 

Cost: $110

Why you should go to this breakfast: 

Attend this fundraiser breakfast and know that the cost of your ticket is helping to raise money for organizations like Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Canada, Dreams Take Flight, Safe Haven Foundation and the Women's Shelter of Calgary. The cost of your ticket includes breakfast as well as a Knoxville's VIP access card for all 10 days of Stampede, live music, dancing and a mechanical bull. 

 

Repsol Sport Centre Healthy Stampede Breakfast

When: Thursday, July 13

Where: Repsol Sport Centre, 2225 Macleod Tr. S.E.

Cost: Free

Why you should go to this breakfast:

Eat some pancakes, go for a swim. Or vice versa. 

 

Best of the East Stampede Breakfast

When: Thursday, July 13

Where: International Avenue, 17 Ave. S.E. 

Cost: Free

Why you should go to this breakfast:

As well as pancakes, expect some international dishes at this breakfast.

 

Home & Away Second Annual Stampede Breakfast

When: Thursday, July 13

Where: Home & Away, 1331 17 Ave. S.W. 

Cost: Free

Why you should go to this breakfast:

You'll be able to enjoy those pancakes on the restaurant's big patio. Donations will be accepted for KidSport Calgary

 

Kerby Centre's Stampede Breakfast

When: Friday, July 14

Where: Kerby Centre, 1133 7 Ave. S.W. 

Cost: Free

Why you should go to this breakfast:

The Gordie West Band is performing at this breakfast. They must be good — they're back by popular demand. 

 

Greengate Stampede Breakfast

When: Saturday, July 15

Where: greengate Garden Centres, 14111 Macleod Tr. S.

Cost: Free

Why you should go to this breakfast:

This is a good one for the kids. This is a family-friendly breakfast with live music, face painting and other activities that the kids will like. 

 

Rodney's Stampede Caesar Brunch

When: Saturday, July 15

Where: Rodney's Oyster House, 355 10 Ave. S.W. 

Cost: $30

Why you should go to this breakfast: 

You'll get a traditional Stampede breakfast, but also three customized Caesars to help you get through the final weekend of Stampede. 

 

AGAHAN 2017 Filipino Stampede Breakfast

When: Sunday, July 16

Where: Pacific Hut Parking Lot, 3231 17 Ave. S.E. 

Cost: Free

Why you should go to this breakfast:

Here, you'll get to sample traditional Filipino breakfast food and listen to Filipino music.
