How to Eat Gluten-Free in Calgary
Where to purchase gluten-free baking and gluten-free food products, plus how to preserve flavour and nutrients when eating gluten-free.

The local food event of a lifetime is on the horizon for Calgary and there are three chances to get in on the action. Rouge Restaurant, Alloy and Charcut Roast House are combining their remarkable kitchen talents to serve up a six-course meal at each establishment starting this month.
Alloy co-owner Uri Heilik looked to cities like Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco, where restaurants often do collaborations, and he noticed Calgary was lacking any such thing. “We’re all friends with each other, and we thought it would be fun for us and fun for Calgary,” Heilik says.
The three restaurants will sit down with each other and create three six-course meals, with two courses from each featured in each dinner. “The hosting restaurant will be doing the entrée and dessert, because those are the most difficult to make,” Heilik says. “The other restaurants will do the prep work in their own kitchens beforehand, and then do the cooking on the hosting restaurant’s line.” Not only will the experience be unique between all three meals, but on top of the dinner, each hosting restaurant will have its own drink list paired specifically for the meal.
The three meals will take place a month apart, with the first dinner being held at Alloy on May 25. The second is on June 21 at Rouge and Charcut will host the final meal on July 27. Tickets are $140 per person for each dinner (plus GST and gratuity), with only 80 tickets for each event.
