Calgary's 5 Most Pedestrian Friendly Neighbourhoods

Walkability was ranked the 5th most important factor in our Best Neighbourhoods Survey. Here's the Top 5.

Given the importance our survey respondents put on parks and pathways and short commute times, it’s perhaps not surprising pedestrian-friendliness would also rank highly as an important factor in making a neighbourhood appealing. In fact, it was rated the fifth most-important characteristic or amenity in making a neighbourhood great.

What these neighbourhoods have in common is walkability — meaning there is somewhere to go and it’s not only within easy walking distance, but a pleasant walking experience to get there. Some areas offer more in the way of things to do and places to go, while others offer beautiful and quiet streets for a nice stroll.

Based on the survey results, the following neighbourhoods were rated as the most pedestrian-friendly in the city:

1. Wildwood
2. Hillhurst
3. Lakeview
4. Cliff Bungalow
5. Crescent Heights
