Notable Restaurant Celebrates its First Anniversary

Last Thursday, chef Michael Noble and the staff at Notable celebrated the restaurant's first birthday. According to Noble, back when the restaurant was just a concept, people told him he was crazy to open a restaurant of that calibre in Montgomery. Whoever those people are, clearly they don't share Noble's vision or instincts since from day one, the restaurant has been going gangbusters.

The centerpiece of the restaurant is a large wood-fired rotisserie and grill. Different nights of the week feature different rotisserie specials like prime rib, chicken or rack of Alberta pork, all equally juicy and flavourful.

The rustic feel of the fire emits a warm, welcoming vibe that melds nicely with the other preparations on the menu that showcase Noble's formidable talents as a chef. There's nothing fussy about the menu, nothing intimidating  — it's what home cooking would be if you happened to have an internationally acclaimed chef with serious pedigree in your home.

If there's one downside to Notable, it's that it's so good it can be tough to get a reservation. But don't worry. Notable's reservation policy allows for half of its tables to be reserved and saves the other half for walk-ins, so reso or no, you can always get in. You may have to wait a while but so what? Order a glass of wine, watch the bustle in the open kitchen, make some new friends while you wait and soon enough you'll be seated, experiencing for yourself the meaning of gourmet casual.

Notable is located at 4611 Bowness Rd. N.W., 403-288-4372, notabletherestaurant.ca.
