Amorphous Shapes

If the latest fixtures, fittings and architectural details in bathrooms this year are looking a little askew, that’s because they literally are. Beverley Page of Royal Flush says amorphous and asymmetrical shapes are replacing the previous trend of perfect balance. “We are seeing more things that are off, just slightly,” she says.

For example, toilets that lean to the side, bathtubs that are more egg-shaped than oval and accessories such as bowls that are not perfectly round or square.

“There are a lot of nature-inspired, organic shapes,” says Page, who points to faucets that take their design cues from tree branches, foregoing smooth linear lines in favour of more irregular shapes.

“The need for balance and perfection is no longer,” she says.
