Please describe your piece:"TWIST (15-1/4" wide x 23-5/8" long x 15-1/4" high), is a fun, modern and easy on the eye piece designed basically as a coffee table, which can also be used as a side table. The original piece was made out of walnut (plywood core, walnut veneer, and 6mm solid strips for the edges). It could be also produced on acrylic, stainless steel, concrete, granite, marble, manufactured stone (quartz) - in other words, almost every available material."
What inspired this piece? "My inspiration for TWIST came from different sources and reasons, first of all I wanted a coffee table that could reflect my love and respect for design and art, also I wanted a very natural piece, either made of a natural material such as wood or glass. I wanted a piece that could stand the test of time time not only quality wise but also on the fashion trends side. This being said, I could point out Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris (Le Corbusier), international style and Maurits Cornelis Escher (M.C. Escher), and so-called 'impossible structures' as the principal sources of my inspiration."
About the designer (Oscar Fonseca): "Being a designer is full of challenges, mainly because is not easy to be good at what we do, sometimes in order to succeed we have to first fail, and after we fail we have to go back to square one or the drawing board to be able to understand our own weaknesses. Sometimes we have to learn how to take criticism, either we like it or not, the love and passion for what you do needs to be put aside, some other times we have to learn how to judge and be judged. And finally we have to learn how to find balance in our professional and personal life, which I think is the hardest and most difficult to accomplish. So my reasons look like many, yet at the same time is only one: to create something memorable."
