Classic haircuts with edgy, modern updates.

Stylist: Richard De Los Reyes
Salon: Chrome, 100, 933 17 Ave. S.W., 403-802-5868
Bio: De Los Reyes has studied in Calgary, as well as at Vidal Sassoon
in Toronto. He has been at Chrome for two years and recently signed
with Mode Models for fashion styling. “I began cutting my friends’ hair for them when they were too poor to visit salons to maintain their stylish appearances,” he says.
The cut: “With this, I created something easy and edgy, some-thing effortlessly cool. It’s inspired by grunge rock, but is totally modern,” says De Los Reyes.

Stylist: Jereme Bokitch
Salon:  Hedkandi Salon, 102, 615 3 Ave. S.W., 403-215-8458
Bio: Bokitch has been a stylist for 16 years, and a salon owner for nine. “I do a bit of everything, but what I enjoy the most is cutting shapes that have movement and texture. If you are looking for wild and crazy, I’m not your guy,” says Bokitch.
The cut: Rocked out with loads of layers and a long sweeping fringe
— the shape is business in the front and party in the back. “It’s currently one of my favourites,” says Bokitch.

Stylist: Michelle Lazo
Salon: Jerome Hair Salon, 323 17 Ave. S.W., 403-228-0018
Bio: Lazo apprenticed with Jerome Pinsonneault and has worked for
him for 10 years. She has also trained in L.A., New York and London.
“I’m inspired by fashion and music,” says Lazo.
The cut: “This look is inspired by classic hair when women were ‘set’ and men were ‘handsome.’ This is a classic with a modern twist as the trend heads toward vintage redone,” says Lazo.

Stylist: Ralph Allocca
Salon: Angles Hair, 401, 751 3 St. S.W., 403-543-8222
Bio: Allocca began his career as a teenager in Italy, where he is from. He moved to Calgary in the ’80s where he has found success as an owner, business partner, educator, artist and stylist. “I travel abroad, participating in hair shows and fashions shows and am inspired by Vidal Sassoon, the master of hair cutting,” he says.
The cut: First created by Sassoon in the ’60s, the bob keeps coming back as a classic. “This version is an A-line bob with soft layers that use natural curl and very little product for a soft, sexy look,” says Allocca.

Stylist: Michelle Lazo
Salon: Jerome Hair Salon, 323 17 Ave. S.W., 403-228-0018
The cut: This look is classic male, with texture and rough edges.
“The pompadour is having its comeback,” says Lazo.

Stylist: Jereme Bokitch
Salon: Hedkandi Salon, 102, 615 3 Ave. S.W., 403-215-8458
The cut: This shape has clean layers that add to the volume. Blowing it out with a round brush gives the appearance of a full set, without the work. “With this I wanted to show something big with bounce,” says Bokitch.
