Reasons to Love Calgary

As temperatures dip, traffic slows and the nights stretch out, it’s time to ask this city we call home, “what have you done for us lately?” Fortunately, we’ve got some great answers.

Whether you’re a newcomer or a born-and-bred Calgarian, with the city growing so fast and developing so wildly it can be hard to keep track of all that’s happening here. Many of us came here, or have stayed here, for work not necessarily because we loved this city. But there’s a lot to love here, and there’s actually more to love each time we look. Which is not to say there aren’t problems or things we’d like to see change (we’ll get to that here, too). But right now, at that time of year when you’re most regretting living here, as the temperatures plunge, the traffic slows and the daylight dwindles, as friends in distant cities call and ask why you stay here anyway, take a moment to look at all there is to love in Calgary.

Whether it's our civic engagement, developments, arts and culture, food or shopping, rejoice in the fact that this is a great city to call home!

90 Reasons to Love Calgary....

What a great article! I moved here from Toronto in 1972, I fell in love with the skiing and later with a blonde beauty from the Okanagan that was transplanted here, we've been married for over 30 years now, and raised our two children here. Calgary is and has been home to us, and I still love driving to the city core every morning. I run in the Banff Jasper Relay every year and get to meet other great Calgarians there that are part of the running community. Thanks for the list, I will wave it in the face of any nattering naybobs of negativity that show disrespect to our city!

I love Calgary

My car was stuck in a pile of ice 5 inches thick this morning. We all need resons to love Calgary this time of year! Thanks for this reminder.

SUNDOGS ON THE BOW

Taken by BRIAN LEWIS

On the bike path at Edworthy Park on a cold October morning. Colder upper air mixing with warmer air over the Bow created this rather dramatic scene.
