Alloy is a bit off the beaten path in a nondescript, one-storey building just east of Macleod Trail on 42nd Avenue S.E. The beautifully designed space with large white leather booths and a glass-enclosed wine cellar at the entrance sets the tone for a menu that shows as much attention to detail as the decor. Showing a mix of culinary styles, the dinner menu has starters that include a hummus and olive platter served with naan bread ($7) and duck “gyoza” ($11) — this selection is a bit do-it-yourself as you get the gyoza filling and fried won tons to scoop it up with. There are salads, such as the Thai beef ($15) and a small but tasteful selection of mains, including seafood risotto ($24) and a trio of lamb (chop, meatloaf and sirloin with apricot mint couscous, $36). Alloy also has a top-notch wine list, making it a worthy dining destination.
