Located south of the Ranchman's on Macleod Trail in what was once a fast food restaurant is Tommy Burger Bar. Now, with its modern decor and unique menu experience, it's not a typical burger joint. Try a starter (gourmet poutine, $7; onion rings, $6) or a salad like the Tommy chop (greens, chicken, avocado, four-cheese blend and crispy prosciutto, $11). If it's a triple-A grade beef burger you are craving, you've come to the right place. There's the basic Tommy burger ($7.50), a six-ounce patty with lettuce, tomato, chipotle ketchup and Tommy sauce, which you can customize with a variety of toppings like avocado ($1.25), sautéed mushrooms ($1.25), centre cut bacon ($1.25) or aged cheddar ($1.25). There are also specialty burgers like the Tommy Boy ($14, two patties, aged cheddar, Swiss and provolone cheese) or veggie burger ($9, topped with red pepper and roasted garlic aioli, sprouts, onion and avocado).
