Patisserie du Soleil
It’s a bakery, a coffee shop, a fine breakfast-lunch-and-early dinner cafe and a great community meeting spot.
Elvis Costello – Secret Profane and Sugarcane
Elvis is back and once again he's doing that thing where he's much cooler than you by being a bigger dork that you. It's one of life's great mysteries how he continues to pull this act off.

Eels – Hombre Lobo: 12 Songs of Desire
The best album inspired by a singer's beard since [insert ZZ Top reference here].

Prison Break: Season 4
I firmly believe that the first season of Prison Break is a masterpiece in serial television. Since then, the show has taken a dramatic turn towards the random, ridiculous and downright stupid. Fortunately with season four, this show is finally being put to death. (Fun side note: Wentworth Miller might star in the film adaptation of BioShock… because movies based on video games almost never suck.)

Franz Ferdinand – Blood
Dub versions of tracks from Franz Ferdinand's most recent (and very solid) album, Tonight. This idea is just crazy enough to work.

Land Of the Lost: The Complete Series
The only positive thing about movies based on old TV shows that are mostly forgotten is that the source material gets re-released. Here's a fun fact: All these years I've had what I thought to be the Land Of the Lost theme song in my head, but when I watched the first few episodes last weekend, the theme was completely different. Apparently, I had written my own version or something. How weird is that? Oh yeah, if you in any way remember this show fondly, DO NOT WATCH THESE DVDs. It's exceptionally terrible.

The Wallflowers – 1995-2000 Collected
At first I thought this would just be a dozen or so versions of "One Headlight," but I was shocked to learn that The Wallflowers have, in fact, released five albums. Who knew?

Transformers: The Complete First Season
It holds up better than I thought it would.

Friday the 13th
This reboot is actually a re-imagining of the first several Friday the 13th films. They even included bits of the original soundtrack. That's a lot of care for a movie that virtually no one went to see. The Rotten Tomatoes rating is 25% right now, which generally means it sucks, but I think a lot of those people went into it expecting something other than a run-of-the-mill slasher flick with updated gore effects. In the right frame of mind, Friday the 13th is actually very entertaining.

Wilco – Wilco (The Album)
Confession: I can't name a single Wilco song off the top of my head. This is a band a lot of people talk about. It's a band I'm sure I've referenced in conversation at least once. I know there's a guy named Jeff Tweedy involved and that a guy who used to be in the band recently died. Yet, I seriously don't think I've listened to anything by Wilco. Ever. If there weren't a Wikipedia entry confirming that they do exist, I would suspect that Wilco was a made up band from a movie or something. There is precedent here—I own a Citizen Dick t-shirt.

Entourage: The Complete Fifth Season
Entourage is a good example of how the law of diminishing returns can be applied to a TV show. With each subsequent season, the amount of enjoyment you can derive is decreased. Season six starts in July, and I can't help but think that the only thing that will get me to care about this show is if Vincent Chase pulls a River Phoenix in episode one, and we spend the rest of the series watching everyone comes to terms with it via hilarious circumstances and stunt casting.

The IT Crowd: The Complete Second Season
Considering that they've already aired the third season in the UK, I'm kind of surprised season two is only now finding its way to DVD. That being said, if you haven't watched the IT Crowd before, I'm extremely jealous of you because I wish I could experience its hilarity for the first time again.

Eastbound & Down: The Complete First Season
I am immediately suspicious of a show that gets most of its laughs from f-bombs and dick jokes, but somehow Eastbound & Down transcends low-brow humor and is a work of pure, comedic genius. I know, crazy right?

Moby – Wait For Me
When Moby teamed up with Gwen Stefani for "South Side" way back when, I thought that "this guy is going to be the greatest pop star in history, like a white hipster Michael Jackson." When it comes to music, I'm wrong a lot, though I'd definitely put Play on my list of Most Listenable Albums Ever. 18 and Hotel were kind of forgettable. So much so, that I completely missed Last Night and didn't think about Moby at all until he turned up in the season finale of 30 Rock, standing in the background looking all Mobyish and stuff. Speaking of non-sequiters, this is now the longest review I've ever written for an album I haven't actually listened to. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to listen to Play.
