First Canadian Papyrus Store Opens in Calgary

On Tuesday September 7, 2010 the high-end stationery company, Papyrus, opened the doors on its first Canadian store in The Core downtown.

The Calgary location joins the more than 140 locations in the U.S. that offer stationery and merchandise to mark momentous and important life events. Gift-wrapping connoisseurs will discover everything from beautiful and unique paper to a rainbow of ribbon colours.

Marcel and Margrit Schurman founded Papyrus at their kitchen table in 1950 and now, 50 years later, the Schurman Retail group owns more than 440 stores world-wide and controls four brands: Papyrus, Carlton Cards, American Greetings and Paper Thread.

Papyrus plans to expand even further into the Canadian market with stores in Toronto, Edmonton, Vancouver and Montreal planned.

To mark the grand opening The Core and Papyrus have teamed up to offer a free card with any purchase, 20% off gift items and a coupon.
