Folk Fest: Squeeeeque, AKA The Improbable Igloo

Artist Alexis O'Hara brought her speaker experiment to Calgary. The dome of recycled speakers found locally in basements and thrift stores has microphones hanging from its interior. Crawl inside, sit on one of the cushions and start making noise into the microphones. The sound bounces from the speakers at different angles to create an interactive soundscape. Kids love it, but adults are allowed to hang out in the dome. The installation has toured cities across Canada and Europe. The Calgary version is presented by Emmedia. Check out their website for video of O'Hara setting it up and explaining how it works.
