Patisserie du Soleil
It’s a bakery, a coffee shop, a fine breakfast-lunch-and-early dinner cafe and a great community meeting spot.
The laundry room is an often overlooked design challenge. The space needs to be bright, and have adequate storage for all the necessary supplies. It should ideally provide space for not only cleaning and drying the laundry, but for folding and ironing so these tasks don't have to be spread out through the home. The unfortunate fact is that we likely spend more time doing laundry than we want to think about, so this space should also be enjoyable - housework is bad enough, there's no sense having to do it in a dismal space!
For my vote this week, the decision really came down to which space provided a better combination of form and function and while the Yellow Team did add a great wall decal into the room, the Blue Team's execution of the space was just much more thought out. The Blue Team was able to include more storage space, an extra counter and a sink for washing delicates. The space was also painted a soothing colour palette with the washer and dryer integrated well into the design scheme.
