Local Library: A New All-Ages Art Space Opens in Calgary

Local Library, a new all-ages art space located in the heart of the Cultural District opens this Saturday, giving young artists a place to safely showcase their talents. The space was created as the result of a recent partnership between The Central United Church (where Local Library will be located) and several all-ages art collectives. Local Library will "host a variety of activities including regular all-ages shows, a visual arts gallery, open studios, workshops and more."  Since the 2002 closing of Calgary's Multicultural Centre (in the East Village) the 'Every Age' art scene has struggled to find a permanent location for both artists and event goers to call home.

The opening event features performances from The Throwaways, Extra Happy Ghost!!!, Foonyap & The Roar, Deformer, and Gods & Monsters. Also, a gallery opening featuring the art of Bree Horel will commence during the kick-off ceremonies.
