Quincy's on Seventh Re-opens

Quincy's on Seventh has seen more than its share of ups and downs, but it seems to be on an upswing now.  The building was originally built 45 years ago at a cost of $6 million, and played host to Ike and Tina Turner and The Who in days gone by. But since then the area has gone through some striking changes.

When the City decided to lengthen the LRT platform on 7th Avenue between 5th and 6th Streets a couple of years ago, the owners of Quincy's understandably got a bit nervous. The new platform actually covered up their door — not great for business. Then of course the economy did a bit of a nosedive and more than a few folks decided they could skip a steak dinner out now and then — not great for business, either.

Now the LRT platform is done. And Quincy's is launching some new concepts and retooling their menu. While it will still be a steakhouse, they've reworked the menu to focus on lower prices by removing extras but keeping their same great steaks.

In addition they've opened Quincy's Hamburger Lounge, which focuses on an even lower priced menu of sandwiches, hamburgers and Nathan's famous hotdogs. Nothing is over $10 on the Lounge menu.

And top it all they've managed to turn the LRT expansion in their favour by opening a sidwalk cafe which will serve coffee and treats right onto the platform.

Quincy's is at 609 7th Avenue S.W. and is open for lunch and dinner.
