Rub it in

First Posted August 1, 2008
Being tanned these days is so uncool, what with all those skin cancer concerns. Looking tanned is a whole other matter because really, only a select few (models) can pull off being pale without looking pasty in a bikini. Enter tanning cream.

Sure it’s stinky and messy, and it stains your sheets and has a nasty tendency to streak, but it’s a small price to pay to go from blue white to honey bronzed in a day. Plus, the new generation of tanning creams are much more forgiving and less stinky than previous iterations. Delicious Self Tanning Cream by Clarins is my hands-down favourite. It has the look and feel of butterscotch pudding and goes on silky smooth. The caramel colour gives immediate radiance and helps ensure an even application. Infused with pure cocoa extracts, it is also a good moisturizer, which is welcome relief for parched summer skin. $40 at most quality make-up counters.
