Unbeatable Brows

It has happened to all of us. A quick glimpse in the rear view mirror on the morning drive to work and you realise your eyebrows closely resemble caterpillars. Not an attractive look. Conversely, you be among that overzealous collection of women who tweeze until her brows are an unattractive fine line of facial hair. If you are either of these women or any in between, you need professional help.

That's where Benefit Brow Bars come in. Located within the Benefit Cosmetics departments at Holt Renfrew and the two Murale locations (Stephen Avenue and Southcentre Mall), the drop-in service is staffed by licensed aestheticians who will wax and tweeze your facial hair into the "Benefit brow". 

The trademark shape has been used by Benefit throughout its 30-year brow shaping history and leans toward a fuller brow without being too bushy. The idea of the timeless look is to contour the hair to match the individual face shape and bone structure of the client.

Hilary Foote, the head of Benefit's brow empire, travels internationally to train the aestheticians in the technique, is a big supporter of a natural look.
"Women want people to think they just woke up looking great. They don't want to look overdone," says Foote.

One of the keys to not looking overdone is to do almost nothing.
In between appointments at the Brow bar, which should be every four to six weeks, Foote recommends only using your tweezers in the case of emergencies such as an obviously errant hair far away from the brow line. Leave the rest to the professionals. Brows are not a DIY endeavour.

"We see ourselves differently than the world sees us," says Foote.
