You’d think with all the physical downsides of getting older, nature would throw us a bone and at least quit with the random breakouts that plagued our adolescence. Not so. At least there are better tools at our disposal these days to combat blemishes, including Artistry Essentials Anti-Blemish Acne Treatment, which I find both gentle and effective. Its active ingredient is salicylic acid and the packaging warns that it could cause dryness and peeling, but I haven’t experienced these symptoms.

I use it a few nights a week as a just-in-case measure and always wake up with my skin feeling smooth and blemish free. The directions say you can apply up to three times daily — I assume that’s for more serious acne, but I’d think you’d want to build up the this gradually to let you skin adapt.
