Poverty Talks: Calgarians and candidates speak

Last night, Vibrant Communities Calgary hosted Poverty Talks, a panel discussion featuring aldermanic and mayoral candidates speaking with low income Calgarians. The idea was for the candidates to ask the low-income panel questions about living in poverty and the second half the low income Calgarians would ask the candidates how they would address those issues in the upcoming election.

Toboggan Peninsula - post Sled Island mini festival

If you aren't entirely Sledded out and you can't wait for Stampede to start, there's another festival happening in the few days between the two Calgary parties. The Hillhurst Sunnyside Community Association (HSCA) is hosting Toboggan Peninsula a post-Sled mini fest at the Hilhurst Sunnyside Community Centre (1320 5 Ave NW) beginning today at 7 p.m. after the Hillhurst Sunnyside Farmer's Market. Tonight's 18+ eclectic line up includes Doer & the Doddler, Nathan M. Godfrey and a secret headliner.

It goes with out saying that if you plan a party outside in Calgary it will rain. It doesn't matter which month, the weather will try it's best to work against you. Consider it a fluke if you have gorgeous weather. And count your blessings.
