New Releases for April 27, 2010

Apologies for the absence and general lack of posting. Not much of a weekly blog if I can’t be bothered to post weekly. I have no excuses and you may feel free to flog me at your earliest convenience.

THIS WEEK'S PICK

The Last Starfighter
Arguably the fourth greatest movie about space ever made (and definitely the third greatest videogame movie) finally comes to Blu-ray. Follow the adventures of Alex Rogan, Grig and Centauri as they defend the Frontier from Xur and the Ko-Dan Armada in high-definition. This would be more awesome if I actually owned a Blu-ray player.

MUSIC

Hole – Nobody’s Daughter
Courtney Love has taken a short break from being completely and totally insane to make a new album. Fun fact: “Celebrity Skin” is the most fun song to play in Rock Band. I don’t know why.

Two Door Cinema Club – Tourist History
A friend emailed me this album (PIRACY!) like six weeks ago and I immediately loved it. I was kind of surprised to find out it wasn’t officially released in North America until today. As such, I want to appear ahead of the curve by declaring “I used to listen to them. You know, before they sold out.”

TELEVISION

Survivors: The Complete Seasons One & Two
Further proof that British TV is infinitely superior to most of the crap we watch. Also one of the few post-apocalyptic fictions that doesn’t involve zombies. And let’s face it, the zombie thing is kind of played out.

Survivors: The Complete Original Series
Apparently the afore mentioned British series is a remake of a 70’s British series. I am conflicted because I want to watch it, but I’m afraid it’ll spoil the ending in the new one.
DVD

The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights
The Ultimate Fighter is the best reality show on TV. Period. So shut up.

VIDEOGAMES

2010 FIFA World Cup
This game may be updated annually, but it feels a bit cooler when it happens during an actual World Cup year. Which this is. I think. I don’t really care about soccer.
Xbox 360 | PS3 | Wii
