Plan It Calgary-All You Need to Know

Posted by Avenue Staff in Culture Snacks on Sep 29 2009 11:18

Calgary City Council recently approved Plan It Calgary, a blueprint for growth in the city for the next 60 years.

However some late amendments to the plan were very controversial and have caused people who were strong supporters of the plan to criticize the council, Mayor Dave Broconnier and a weekend meeting held between City Council and developers.

There is sure to be more discussion on the topic in the media, both professional and social, about the vote.

So we're going to compile all the info we can and share it here. We'll keep adding what we find as the dialogue about the plan continues.

From news stories, to blogs and opinion pieces you'll find what is being said from all sides.

If you are unfamiliar with Plan It, the City of Calgary has a  site that gives an overview. calgary.ca/planit

City council, campaign cash and Plan It
FFWD writer Jeremy Klazsus wrote this very interesting blog that raises questions the transparency of the meeting between city council and developers but also raises some interesting questions about campaign financing in Calgary.
