The stellar line-up in place for the Calgary Jazz Festival [1]  has a little something for every one. Not just for the jazz lover, but for the music lover.

At more than 20 venues around the city, ranging from big to small, the Jazz Fest not only has an impressive list of headliners but also great local acts and free performances on Stephen Avenue daily at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. 

While many of the big names that are coming to town share the title of "superstars" their musical styles are all quite different.

Wynton Marsalis [2] is firmly rooted in jazz. A member of the iconic Marsalis family, Wynton wil take to the stage at the Jack Singer Tuesday, June 24.

Dave Brubeck [3], going strong at 88 years-old, is a jazz legend. He and his quartet play a sold-out show at the Jack Singer Thursday, June 26.

On the funkier side of things Maceo Parker [4] (pictured above), former band leader for James Brown and Prince, is sure to get your feet moving.

The Cowboy Junkies [5] celebrate the 20th anniversary ofthier semina abum Trinity Sessions with a performance at the Knox United Church Thursday, June 26.

Saturday June 28, Bluesman Robert Cray [6] plays the Jack Singer adding another musical hue to the rich palette of stlye at the Calgary Jazz Festival. [1]

2008 Canadian Smooth Jazz winner Allistair Elliott [7] who opens for a cappella group Naturally 7 [8] at SAIT's Gateway Theatre, Tuesday June 24. 

Rob Young & the Big Beat Band (at myspace [9]) opening for Pink Martini [10]Wednesday, June 26.

The multi-talented Jay Crocker [11] opening for Michael Occipinti's [12] Sicillian Jazz Project at Quincy's on Saturday, June 28.
