When acting gigs became more work than play, Calgarians David Haysom and Ryan Northcott decided to test the theory that dreams can come true with persistence, hard work and passion. So far, it’s working. The duo are the creators of fuddytv.com, an online outlet where videos of their Monty Python-influenced skits are posted. Much like YouTube, fuddytv allows viewers to post and comment on videos, but the fuddy team has higher aspirations.
Haysom writes and Northcott develops the website and both perform the skits along with director, Erik Eldman. Their goal is to create a community where people can offer ideas as to what characters should do or experience, and even propose new characters and skits. Fuddytv’s future also includes some filming equipment upgrades; currently their sketches are filmed with a mini DV recorder. In the meantime, the fuddy guys just want to have fun and one day create feature films to enter into the film festival circuit.
"We can’t lose,” said Haysom. “We kill ourselves laughing at every shoot.”
