The history

The Anderson Apartments was built in 1912 as a fashionable residence for well-to-do bachelors. It was one of Calgary’s first luxury high rise apartments and it remained one of the city’s tallest until the 1950s. It features dozens of heritage elements including a bird cage elevator in the lobby and built-in china cabinets in the suites. The FX series Fargo shot at the Anderson. It stood in for Gus Grimly’s (played by Colin Hanks) apartment in the series. And, it was the location for Jann Arden’s “Insensitive” video.

What to love

At 580 square feet, this one bedroom, one bath unit has a relatively small floor plan, but the 10-foot ceilings and multiple windows make it feel expansive. The original stained oak woodwork is super chic, the updated kitchen is pretty and efficient and the formal dining room would be the ideal spot for your next Gatsby-themed cocktail party.

What to consider

The condo does not have a balcony, but its Beltline location means you have 17 Avenue S.W. as your backyard.
