7 Low-Key Patios in Calgary

Even the most energetic of us need a cooler, cozier space now and again.

Alloy

Hidden away in the southeast industrial park, Alloy’s courtyard patio is a great place to get away from it all. Hang out under the pergola and enjoy the secluded-yet-open

Cibo

Cibo’s high wooden walls and abundant greenery will make you forget you’re eating right next to the hustle and bustle of 17th Avenue. At night, the string lights hanging overhead make the space even more magical.

Commonwealth

Though inside Commonwealth is a very bustling scene counting four bars and a dance floor, its patio, located in the parking lot out back, is surprisingly secluded, surrounded by high wooden walls and featuring a tree growing smack dab in the middle. Its a unique space to recharge before heading back inside.

Container Bar

Tucked away into an alley in Kensington, Container bar is more or less all patio, all the time. Though it has played host to some raucous nights, this space can feel surprisingly intimate, flanked by large buildings on either side that give it a cozy vibe.

Drum and Monkey

The Drum and Monkey’s outdoor patio may seem like it would be loud and busy due to its being right on 1st Street S.W., and it can be, but the small tables and cozy atmosphere can make this one surprisingly intimate space given the right time of day.

River Cafe

This patio wraps around Prince’s Island Park’s tranquil log cabin restaurant, and the setting can’t be beat for a quiet night out in nature under the stars.

Rouge

Situated behind its heritage house property, Rouge’s patio is completely cut off from the outside world by walls of trees. Right next to its homegrown garden and with a real backyard vibe, this one of the coziest places in Calgary to have a chat while you chow down.
