Blanco Cantina, the Tex-Mex restaurant located on 17 Avenue S.W., launched its new menu on October 25th. New dishes include chili cheese tatter tots, a Santa Fe salad, skillet nachos that are just the right size for one person and more.
The next time you stop by Good Earth Coffeehouse to grab a coffee, consider adding a package of three gingerbread cookies to your order to support a good cause. For each package they sell until December 31st, the Calgary-based company will donate $1 to local food banks. You can also drop off non-perishable food donations to all the coffeehouse locations.
There's a new spot to enjoy locally brewed beer in Inglewood after the grand opening of High Line Brewing on October 18. Located in what used to be an auto garage, the 1,500-square-foot space has been turned into a brewery and 23-seat tasting room with a modern and industrial vibe. The brewery's website lists the drinks that are available on tap, which currently includes a double IPA called HighPA, a scotch ale called Smokes and a fermented tea called Club Mate Plus. Visitors can also pick up growlers and merchandise like glasses and shirts.
Local on 8th Ave. recently launched a happy hour special, and it's a good one. Every day of the week from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., you can get beer and tacos for $2.24 each. Grab some friends and head down there to keep your wallet and your stomach happy.
A new restaurant has opened in the space formerly occupied by Gypsy Bistro & Wine Bar in the Grain Exchange Building in downtown Calgary. Plowshare Artisan Diner offers a day and a night menu, which are filled with dishes like a savoury stuffed french toast, duck and waffles, a spinach and havarti cheese pie, bacon wrapped meat loaf, roast chicken and more.

From its menu to its specials, The Mission is mixing things up. The restaurant recently launched a new winter menu with new dishes like seared yellowfin tuna, fish and chips and more. During happy hour, which runs every day from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., you can now get beers, select wines and the monthly cocktail feature for only $6. Snacks and share plates will also be on for half price.There are also new weekly specials on every day of the week except for Mondays and Fridays. The specials range from half price bottles of wine on Tuesdays to getting the Mission burger and a beer for $15 on Thursdays.
The Still Fine Spirits & Edibles opened its doors in mid-October, and its proximity to the Scotiabank Saddledome is sure to make it a pre- and post-game hot spot. Open for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch, the menu features dishes like sharing plates of scotch eggs or peanut satay skewers, flatbreads, sandwiches, steak frites and more. There's also a DJ on Friday nights.
