Our 10 Favourite Chips

We like a good ripple chip. The Old Dutch box with the two bags makes us nostalgic. And, we love Miss Vickie’s (especially because her chips taste even better heated in a 350 oven). But, for the purposes of this story and in honour of the big event coming up…

We like a good ripple chip. The Old Dutch box with the two bags makes us nostalgic. And, we love Miss Vickie’s (especially because her chips taste even better heated in a 350 oven). But, for the purposes of this story and in honour of the big event coming up during which people will snack, Bruno Mars will sing, expensive commercials will be shown and, apparently, football will be played, we list our 10 favourite fancy chips. Some of them are even healthy-ish. A lot of them are dip transfer devices.

PopCorners

Popcorn shaped chips – Where have you been all our lives? These triangular morsels are gluten-free. The kettle flavour is a particularly delicious and addictive sweet and salty munch.

Chip’ins

It’s another delicious popcorn/chip hyrbid. The chips are a little thinner than PopCorners and slightly crunchier. The Jalapeo Ranch flavour is creamy and spicy.

Food Should Taste Good Multigrain Tortilla Chips

They do taste good, they really, really do. Packed with flax, sunflower and sesame seeds, this is a sturdy chip that stands up to dips, like hummus, or is delish straight from the bag.

Late July Sweet Potato Multigrain Snack Chips

These are made with organic ingredients, so all of the sweet potatoes used had happy and fulfilling lives. Slightly sweet, salty and crunchy these are good with salsa.

Dutch Gourmet Thick Cut

These chips are the ultimate chip for dipping. They come in a variety of flavours, including honey dijon and slow cooked ribs, but sea salt flavour is the best for pretty much any dip – ranch, artichoke, nacho cheese, heck, even chocolate fondue.

Plentils

These are so tasty that it’s easy to forget a serving has 40 per cent less fat than regular potato chips. The light sea salt flavour has only five tongue-pleasing ingredients including lentil powder, turmeric and safflower oil. Eat a whole bag.

Tyrrell’s Hand Cooked English Potato Chips

These crisps are cooked in small batches in their skins. The result is a crunchy, curly, golden brown chip. The Sea Salt and Cider Vinegar flavour is the best.

Riceworks Gourmet Brown Rice Chips

These are gluten-free, low fat, heart healthy triangles of tasty goodness. They’re packed with flavour and the sweet chili, a spicy, sweet, cruncy bite, is one of the best.

Kettle Brand Potato Chips

Kettle Brand is also making curly, golden brown, skin-on, small-batch chips. They have an awesome variety of flavours, including spicy sriracha, cheesy New York cheddar and the reliably satisfying honey dijon.

Terra Exotic Vegetable Chips

Who needs the plain old potato when you’ve got a mix of root vegetables including sweet potato, taro, parsnip and yuca. The chips are pretty, perfectly salty and crunchy.
