Ever found yourself relaxing by the fire after a long hike and wishing you had something a little stronger than beer? Or maybe you want to enjoy a cocktail in the mountains but don’t want to bring lots of extra supplies to make them.

Enter BarCountry, a new Calgary-based company that offers dehydrated cocktail mixes made with natural flavours and no preservatives. Small and easy to pack, these mixes can be a tasty and convenient addition to your next outdoor adventure.

Making the cocktails is easy; you simply pour a cocktail mix packet into the cocktail shaker and follow the directions for how much spirits and water to add. Give it a good shake and voila, a delicious cocktail.

BarCountry currently offers three cocktail mixer flavours: a pickled Canadian Caesar, a cherry infused old fashioned and a coconut-lime margarita. And it’s safe to say the co-founders know what it takes to craft a great drink – together, the pair have 12 years of bartending experience that includes stints at Calgary eateries like National on 10th and Blanco Cantina.

Along with boxes containing six cocktail mix packets, BarCountry also sells its own cocktail shakers and flasks to carry spirits in.

You can buy BarCountry’s products online through its Etsy site, or find them at Calgary stores including Meraki Supply Co., Kent of Inglewood, 5 Vines Wines, Craft Beer & Spirits, Bridgeland Liquor, BK Liquor on 1 Avenue S.E., Steeling Home, Wine and Beyond, Undercurrents and Bow Trail Liquor.
