Think cowboys only drink whiskey and black coffee? Think again.
Thanks to Bar C‘s new cocktail, the Cowboy’s Breakfast, which was prepared just for the 2014 Calgary Stampede, this year cowboys and fans of cowboys will also be drinking bourbon, tequila and bitters.
According to Andrea Espinoza, a bartender at Bar C, the drink perfectly combines the tastes and flavours that can be found in any good Stampede breakfast: eggs, bacon, maple syrup, and of course, bourbon.
The Cowboy’s Breakfast contains three different kinds of alcohol as well as egg whites, bacon infused maple syrup and liquid smoke, all of which is then shaken with ice. And like any good cocktail to be given to a cowboy, the drink is garnished with a piece of candied bacon.
It’s smoky, it’s sweet, it’s boozy and it’s quite possibly the best way to kick-start the 2014 Stampede.

Cowboy’s Breakfast Recipe
1.5 oz Buffalo Trace Bourbon
.5 oz Cazadores Tequila
.5 oz Bacon infused maple syrup
1 egg white
3 shakes Cherry Bark Bitters
2 shakes liquid smoke
1 Garnish with Candied Bacon
