There’s so shortage of tasty eats here in Calgary. Here’s a look at a few cool restaurant dishes, drinks and food products we’re excited to check out this month.

Downtown’s Café Alchemist has launched a pop-up restaurant on select weekend nights. The small but mighty menu features a range of dishes from branzino fillet to beef tartare, though we’ve got our eye on the shareable plate of peach salmorejo, which features macerated melons and prosciutto.

Missing the squid ink spaghetti from the now-closed Foreign Concept? Don’t worry, you can enjoy it once again at Bar Chouette, the new wine and cocktail bar that chef Duncan Ly opened earlier this year. Along with the striking black noodles, this popular dish is full of delicious seafood (clams, prawns and scallops) in a panang curry emulsion.

Located within Swerte Filipino Store, HiroMiko is a new bubble tea shop where you can treat yourself to lemon iced teas, fruit mix teas, milk teas and more. But the thing we’re most excited to try is its take on iskrambol, a Filipino dessert made with shaved ice and topped with chocolate syrup, marshmallows, sprinkles and more. The iskrambol is available in an original or chocolate flavour.

Smokey Maple Blood Orange Mimosa from Monki Bistro

With flavours like orange, grapefruit and lemonade, it’s safe to say Monki Bistro is serious about its mimosa game. The restaurant’s newest flavour offers something even more unique though, with a smokey maple blood orange mimosa that is perfect for fall. Add one to your next order of eggs Benedict or French toast.

Banff’s Park Distillery has launched an exciting new spirit: Flora and Fauna Gin. Featuring eight botanicals (rose petals, green cardamom, juniper, coriander, chamomile, lemon peel, oris root and liquorice root), this gin promises to take your cocktails to the next level. As a bonus, $1 from each bottle sold goes towards supporting Nature Conservancy Canada. Order a bottle online or pick one up the next time you’re in Banff.
