28 Blankets opens in Inglewood

The owner of local yarn store STASH Lounge has opened a cozy new shop, 28 Blankets, in Inglewood. Taking over the space formerly occupied by Blooms on 9th (which has moved to a new location within the neighbourhood), 28 Blankets is largely filled with finished fibre goods that you can wear or decorate your home with. Look for plaid blankets from The Tartan Blanket Co. in Scotland, alpaca mittens, woven rugs, handwoven baskets and more.

CrossIron Mills is now offering a Holiday Shopping Shuttle

Getting to CrossIron Mills to do your holiday shopping has never been easier thanks to the mall's recently launched Holiday Shopping Shuttle service. Shuttle service will run at select times until December 26. It costs $10 for a round trip. You can board the shuttle at the Red Arrow downtown depot, the YYC Calgary International Airport and at the Northwest Brentwood LRT station. Visit for more information.

Do some holiday shopping on 4th Street and get a free Christmas tree

If you were planning to do some holiday shopping at stores along 4th Street S.W. this month, December 1st and 8th are the days to do it. On those days, if you spend more than $100 (at least one retail purchase required) between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., you can bring your receipts to Wurst to get a free Christmas Tree. Participating businesses include Shelf Life Books, Krickets, Neal's Yard Remedies, Feisty Consignment, Babor Beauty Spa, Shokunin and more. There are only enough trees for 40 people though, so shop smart! Visit for more information.

Fieldstudy opens in Mission

This new modern general store in Mission opened its doors at the end of November. The approximately 1,000-square-foot shop is a bright, well-lit space thanks to its large front windows, neutral colour palette and plywood furniture. Fieldstudy is full of ethically sourced and handcrafted lifestyle goods from across North America. Shop for ceramics, jewellery, candles, vintage items, wall hangings and women’s clothing from Montreal’s Ursa Minor, Vancouver’s Nicole Bridger, San Francisco’s First Rite and more.

S.E. If you've ever wanted to own apparel or accessories by big name brands like Gucci, Burberry, Manolo Blahnik or Alexander Wang, this is the place to get them for a fraction of the original price.

Tri It Multisport moves to a new location

As of December 2nd, this triathlon store will be calling a new building home. Tri It Multisport is moving from its former location in Parkdale to a new space at 1703 10 Ave. S.W. in Sunalta. The store carries gear and apparel relating to swimming, biking and running.

Velour Clothing Exchange opens in Lower Mount Royal

Velour is the first store in the city to use this model. Focusing on vintage (from 1960s to the '90s) and modern styles, you can find everything from brand name boots to vintage denim jackets at affordable prices here.
