Alberta Theatre Projects has several performances to look forward to next year. Purchase gift cards as stocking stuffers and encourage the theatre afficionados you know to attend Mump and Smoot, The Last Voyage of Donald Crowhurst or Becky’s New Car in the new year.

Calgary Folk Fest Christmas Sale

The dates for the 2015 Calgary Folk Music Festival have already been set. From July 23 to July 26 2015, Prince’s Island will transform into Calgary’s most happening music venue. While the lineup hasn’t been announced yet, this is a great gift for anyone you know who likes listening to music alfresco, discovering new bands and an overall great time.

Buy 4-day passes or single-day passes in the Christmas sale. Prices range from $25 (single day Thursday pass for seniors or youth) to $189 (the adult 4-day flex pass).

Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra gift vouchers

A night at the symphony makes for a romantic evening out. No matter what the recipient’s musical taste, they will be able to find a concert that entertains them in 2015. Next year the orchestra is performing everything from Pink Floyd (Jan. 28) to Simon and Garfunkel (Feb. 18) to a tribute to The Bee Gees (Feb. 7).

Single vouchers from $59 and six-pack tickets from $330.

CUFF 5-Film Punch Pass

CUFF events take place all year. Purchase a five-film punch pass to put in that movie buff’s stocking. They will be able to attend any CUFF event or at the festival in April. It’s also completely transferrable.

The pass costs $40.

(212, 233 12 Ave. S.W., calgaryundergroundfilm.org)

Epcor Centre gift certificates

If you’re buying for someone who has very particular tastes – or for someone who likes just about everything – a gift certificate to the Epcor Centre could be the perfect gift. This allows the recipient to attend any event at the theatre they wish, whether it’s a theatrical performance, a National Geographic talk or a blues concert.

There’s no set price for a gift certificate; pay as much as you’d like to gift, ranging from $25 to $250.

(225 8 Ave. S.E., 403-294-9494, epcorcentre.org)

Glenbow memberships and artifact adoption

There’s always something new happening at Glenbow. If you know someone who’s interested in art or history, considering purchasing a membership to the museum. An adult one-year pass costs $55 and a family one-year pass costs $90.

Another good gift option is to adopt an artifact. Connect someone personally with a historic object or piece of art, such as a significant war medal or love letter from years ago. There are still more than 100 artifacts available for adoption.

(130 9 Ave. S.E., 403-268-4165, glenbow.org)

GlobalFest early bird tickets

GlobalFest tickets are at their cheapest until the end of the month. This gift will get its recipient excited for the city’s most explosive fireworks and cultural festival, which runs from August 20 to August 29. The countries participating this year are China, the Philippines, Spain, Vietnam and Canada. Purchase either individual admission tickets, tickets for the finale or a Global pass.

A pass costs $35.

(285, 2323 32 Ave. N.E., 403-5699679, globalfest.ca)

High Performance Rodeo flex pass

When January rolls around, High Performance Rodeo takes over the city and their lineup is as creative and wacky as ever. If you know someone who would want to see a One Yellow Rabbit triptych, a show about a woman obsessed with Keith Richards or a true story about a miner, this gift gives your recipient access to them all.

The 2015 High Performance Rodeo flex pass costs just $120 and is a four-ticket bundle. Let someone you love go to four shows, or buy a bundle that lets four people you love all go to the same production.

Ironwood Stage and Grill gift cards

Buying gifts for music lovers can be tricky. Buying a CD can seem cheap (and outdated) while an instrument can be out of control. A gift certificate to the Ironwood Stage and Grill is the happy medium. The certificates represent a cash value, so it’s up to you if you want to gift the amount for a concert (usually concerts are $15 per person) or include dinner in there as well.

(Ironwood Stage and Grill, 1229 9 Ave. S.E., 403-269-5581, ironwoodstage.ca)

Vertigo Theatre passes

Put a little mystery in someone’s stocking this year. To finish off its season, Vertigo Theatre is presenting Bloodshot, The Haunting and Dial “M” for Murder. The Night at the Theatre package costs $90 for an adult or $77 for a senior, and allows the recipient to choose to see two performances from those three plays. The 3 Play Pack costs $135 for an adult or $115 for a senior and gains the recipient access to each of the three performances. The Y Stage Family Pack is another good option.
