Albertan artisans, entrepreneurs, distillers, designers and more gathered online for the third annual Made in Alberta Conference and (virtual) awards night, presented in association with connectFirst credit union.
This year’s conference was all about thinking local and growing global for small businesses and local entrepreneurs. On October 13 and 14, industry experts and local business owners shared their stories of success and struggle, plus tips and tricks on everything from how to grow and scale sustainably, what it takes to enter the wholesale market, the best ways to stand out from the crowd at artisan markets, how to start exporting your products, entrepreneurial consulting and creativity, the ins and outs of local manufacturing and branding, and how to leverage your story to your community and customers.
Participants were highly engaged during the online conference with many questions, comments and networking opportunities in the live chat and were entered to win a variety of door prizes including wholesale consulting programs valued at $1,250, the Made in Alberta and Uproot Food Collective specialty box and a $100 gift card from sponsor Oxford Properties.
All of the conference sessions, plus the awards ceremony, were recorded and are now available here until the end of the year.
The Made in Alberta Awards were made possible by the generous support of our sponsors connectFirst Credit Union, SAIT, MNP, Calgary Economic Development, TAP Canada’s Trade Accelerator Program, Oxford Properties, Global News and CHQR radio.
The next Made in Alberta Awards competition opens on November 1, 2021 and more stories about the winners, runners-up and makers across our province can be found online at MadeInAlbertaAwards.ca or on stands now in Avenue’s October issue or our inaugural Made in Alberta magazine.
