It’s been legal to bring your own wine to restaurants since 2003 in Alberta, but many still shy away from the BYOW scene due to the corkage fees many restaurants levy on their patrons. Luckily, there are a number of Calgary restaurants that will let you bring your own bottle of vino, free of charge. Here’s a breakdown of where to bring your wine during the week.

Mondays

Farm allows one free bottle per two people to start your work week right, waiving its usual $15 fee to help cure your case of the Mondays.

Tuesdays

Enjoy Carino‘s Japanese-Italian fusion cuisine with your own favourite blend, whatever that may be. Just remember to control yourself, lest you wind up staring at its pressed tin ceiling from its hardwood floors!

Wednesdays

Hump day offers a decent selection of free corkage. Go red with steak from Open Range, opt for white with Big Fish‘s seafood selection or try your own pairing with Diner Deluxe‘s comfort food cuisine.
(1114 Edmonton Tr. N.E., 403-277-3408, open-range.ca, @rangefish)
(1112 Edmonton Tr. N.E., 403-277-3403, big-fish.ca @rangefish)
(350 Aspen Glen Landing, 403-457-3000, dinerdeluxe.com, @diner_deluxe)

Sundays

The perfect day for draining the bottles burning a hole in your wine cellar, River Caf, Boxwood and Teatro all offer free corkage on Sundays.
(25 Prince’s Island Park, 403-261-7670, river-cafe.com, @rivercafeyyc)
(340 13 Ave. S.W., 403-265-4006, boxwoodcafe.ca, @boxwoodcalgary)
(200 8 Ave. S.E., 403-290-1012, teatro.ca)

All Week

When you can’t be bothered to check whose waiving fees that day, bring your bottles to Pizza Bob’s Classic Pie or The Belvedere, safe in the knowledge you and your wine will always be welcome.
(2610 Kensington Rd. N.W., 403-283-2041, pizzabobs.ca)
(107 8 Ave. S.W., 403-265-9595, thebelvedere.ca)
