Calgary Farmers’ Market

The markets’ southeast patio is turning into a beer garden from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 1. Big T’s Smokehouse is hosting the party, so follow the wafting scent of smoked meat and the sounds of live music to find it. There will also be beer from local favourites, including Trolley 5, Common Crown and Half Hitch and Fallen Timber’s Meadjito. Admission is free and drink tickets are $5.

Deane House

This garden patio is already one of the best in the city, and on July 1, it’s location near Fort Calgary is extra good. Stop by for its regular brunch (with an extra stacked pastry bar) and dinner menus. As always, there is croquet and bocce on the lawn and Deane House just rolled out its outdoor bar with extra fast drink service (that is in anticipation of both Canada Day and Calgary Stampede).

Joey Eau Claire

This is already one of the busiest patios downtown and with huge booth seating, it is one of the best to go to with a group. Order Super Sonic Gin and Tonics, sit back and take it all in.

Marriott Rooftop Patio for Otafest

This patio party is for Otafest attendees-only, but there are still tickets available if you want to be one. The weekend of anime and Japanese art events includes a dropshot tournament, competitive video gaming, cosplay fashion shows and more. And, it has a Canada 150 Rooftop fireworks party on the top of the Marriott Calgary Downtown. This party is all ages and has live music, food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

River Cafe

The Deane House’s sister restaurant, River Caf is also in a prime Canada Day location. It’s tucked into Prince’s Island Park, which is a hub for the City’s Canada Day festivities. This patio will give you a good view of the park and is also a nice place to rest and get away from they crowds while enjoying truly local cuisine. It’s also very close to the Canada 150 sign.

Rooftop Bar @ Simmons

This patio will get you a view from above at Riverfront Avenue, where the City also has events planned all day. It’s one of the patios operated by Charbar and it has a menu of small plates and sharing platters that take advantage of the firepit up there. There is also a full bar on this rooftop. It doesn’t take reservations, so consider yourself lucky if you walk in to a spot on Canada Day.

Una Pizza + Wine

You’ll want to eat on this patio on Canada Day because the food will be good and the vibe will be fun, but also because Una is offering an amazing Canada Day deal. On July 1, it is offering a free $150 gift certificate for every $150 gift card purchased. Technically you don’t have to be on the patio to get the deal. In fact, you have to order your gift certificates online to get it. But, you might as well stop in and toast to Una’s enthusiasm for Canada.
