CrossIron Mills is big. It’s 1.12 million square-feet big (that’s almost 13 football fields for you sports fans). But, the mall was built to expand. Walls can be bumped out and wings can be added.
“The retail scene is fierce and you have to keep moving to keep up,” says James Moller, CrossIron Mills general manager.
It’s most recent move is the announcement of a $60 million project that will move the existing food court to another location and add 46,000 more square-feet of retail space.
The new food court will be in the entertainment district. If you are already in the mall make your way to Forever 21 and La Senza. You’ll see Boston Pizza and the movie theatres and know you are in the Entertainment District. From the outside, park by entrance 5.
The expansion will increase the food court vendors from 14 to 16 and add 200 more seats, bringing capacity to 1,300.
The old food court location will become nine new retail spaces.
Construction will begin in January 2015 with the new food court opening in spring 2016. By spring 2017 the new retailers will be open in the old food court.
CrossIron Mills has hinted that this is just the beginning of its expansion plans so stay tuned for more news.
