Folks with an eye for fashion know that shopping consignment is one of the best ways to score a deal on some serious designer goods. You should approach a consignment shop as you would a new best friend; after all it is a relationship of perpetual give and take. Once you find a shop that stocks brands you love and has a great consignment structure, you’ll be set for an entire year of uncovering great gems – and trading in pieces from your wardrobe for credit or cash. We’ve got our eye on nine new consignment concept shops that are making waves in bringing gently worn clothing to the masses.

The Upside

Glamourous style is within reach thanks to The Upside. Based in Calgary, the newly launched online luxury consignment boutique has all of the authenticated designer goods you could ever want. The concept is simple: the curators of The Upside have hand-picked every single item in their inventory, adding up to over 250 designer labels. The luxury brands include Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Chanel and Herms. What makes The Upside so different from other consignment shops is that it is completely online yet coupled with services that give it a personal touch. Home pick-up service is optional and consignors earn up to 70% of the retail prices. Sounds like a win-win to us.

SalvEdge Boutique

SalvEdge Boutique is the new concept from the people behind Rewind Consignment. Reinventing yourself is a big part of consignment shopping; finding something new-to-you can revolutionize your style and take your outfit-of-the-day’s to the next level. SalvEdge features the same great product as Rewind did, including brands such as Alexander Wang, Coach and J.Crew. It also has fun “Sip & Shop” shopping parties where you can peruse the racks with your friends, glass of bubbly in hand.

Man of Distinction

Filling a huge gap in Calgary’s lack of men’s consignment shops, Man of Distinction is bringing designer fashion, great accessories and shoes to the stylish gents of the city. The men of Calgary have gotten drastically more sartorial as of late, and it only makes sense that there should be a place that they can pass along their au courant castaways to. Expect to find incredible pieces from all over the world as well as great brands we know and love including Ben Sherman, Ralph Lauren and Lululemon.

Have a little guy in your life that also appreciates a good find? Head to the back of the store to shop from its boy’s consignment selection; this is a perfect way to save money on designer wear while shopping for your ever-growing child.

Pairing accessible street wear such as Joe Fresh and Asos with high-end brands such as Acne and Isabel Marant sets Fond apart from other consignment boutiques that are more rigid about its stock. Fond is a regular vendor at Commonwealth Collector’s Club as well as Market Collective, but clients can book private appointments to view the collection or to consign pieces from their own wardrobe.
