If you’re anything like me, there is one bare spot in your home that you just can’t seem to fill. My dining room wall has been bare for more than two years because I simply can’t decide what I really want for it. Sometimes I envision a oversized painting – but that opens a whole other can of worms – and other times I want the perfect mid-century buffet and hutch. Bottom line is, I need storage.
I have googled dining room shelving every day for the past year, and, rest assured, I’ve found many beautiful pieces that would be perfect for my space; however, they’re usually very imperfect for my budget. That is, until I discovered the new Fjlkinge shelving unit series at IKEA.
It’s simple, clean, modern and quite brilliantly designed, allowing for the option of adding shelving, and grouping different sizes of units together. A long row of these shelves in a loft-like space would look very dramatic, and would provide for storage for objects, books, dishware and stuff you want to hide. The unit pictured here is perfect for me, measuring 236 cm in width and coming in at $318 (however, prices vary by configuration).
