This month, Calgary’s fashion and shopping scene is making it easier to and get a head start on your holiday shopping. Here’s what you need to know about the latest shopping and lifestyle openings, events and sales

BoConcept and Crave Furniture hold closing sales

Two Calgary furniture stores are preparing to close their doors, and both are holding closing sales to get rid of the last of their stock. The Design District’s BoConcept, which will be completely closed by mid-November, will likely be open for at least the next two weeks. Crave Furniture, located a few blocks off Macleod Trail, will be open for around three and half more weeks. Stop by between now and then to get a great deal on contemporary and modern furniture for the whole home.

Distilled Beauty Bar & Social House opens in Marda Loop

Located next to Village Ice Cream in Marda Loop, the newly opened Distilled Beauty Bar & Social House has taken everything we love about going to the spa and our local coffee shop and combined it in one beautiful space. The 2,600-square-foot social house was designed by Nam Dang Mitchell Design, and the result is a bright, chic space to get beauty services like manicures, pedicures, lashes, brows, waxing, facials and blow-outs done in. While you’re there, indulge in some coffee from Rosso Coffee Roasters and a treat from Pretty Sweet in the coffee shop area or at the bar.

Fleurish Flower Shop opens in Parkdale

With one location in Lakeview already, those living on the north west side of the city can now get their flower fix at Fleurish Flower Shop’s new second location in Parkdale. At 1,200 square feet, the shop is larger than Fleurish’s south location, and carries a range of pre-made flower arrangements and cut flowers from around the world. You can also create a custom bouquet with the help of one of the shop’s floral designers. And if you’re looking for something to go with your flowers, the shop carries gifts like Rewind candles, jewellery from Bronze & Butterflies, cards from Wrinkle and Crease and plants including succulents and orchids.

Knifewear holds a fall garage sale

Head to Knifewear between November 7 and 13 to get a great deal on Japanese knives. The Inglewood shop is holding a fall garage sale featuring around 200 knives, which includes prototypes, retired samples, one-of-a-kind knives and more. There will even be some knife finds from the store owner’s recent trip to Japan.

Reworks offers free delivery in select neighbourhoods for October online orders

If you’ve been meaning to pick out some upcycled goods from Reworks lately, but haven’t been able to make it down to the Calgary Farmers’ Market, you’re in luck. Reworks is offering free delivery via bicycle for online orders placed in October to the neighbourhoods of Bridgeland, Ramsay and Inglewood. Getting your hands on a licence plate birdhouse or pop can tab mini clutch has never been easier.

Shop for the holidays at these local markets

It’s never too early to get a head start on your Christmas shopping. Tons of local arts and crafts markets located in and around Calgary are taking place in November and December, and the timing couldn’t be better if you’re looking to find some great gifts. Some of the markets, like the holiday edition of Little Modern Market, are one day or one weekend events, while others like Market Collective will take place over four consecutive weekends. For more information on the many markets that start this month, check out our events calendar.

Torrid opens at CF Chinook Centre

American retailer Torrid opened its first Calgary store in CF Chinook Centre earlier this month. The store carries stylish women’s clothing, accessories and lingerie in sizes 10 to 30. There are also plans to open a second Calgary location at CrossIron Mills this winter.
