Shopping for sport and fitness apparel, shoes and accessories just got a lot easier for Calgary women. At the beginning of March, Sport Chek celebrated the grand opening of its first store completely dedicated to women in CF Chinook Centre. Called Sport Chek Women, the 16,000-square-foot shop has a sleek, fresh look, a huge selection of women’s products and special technology to help shoppers find the right fit for their bodies.
The store is organized by different sporting activities, with sections for shoes (lifestyle, training and running), fitness accessories, team products like soccer balls and baseball gloves, apparel (sport, running and training), swimwear and sports bras. Sport Chek Women also offers new apparel and sports bra brands such as Lol, Onzie and Moving Comfort.
Finding apparel and shoes that are the right fit is one of the main focuses at Sport Chek Women. The store’s coolest feature is the New Balance Stride I.D. Experience Lab, which helps you determine the best shoes for your feet. Here, shoppers can go for a quick run on a treadmill to have their stride analyzed, then have their feet scanned with a 3D scanner that provides measurements like foot size, arch height and ball width. You may think you have wide, size nine feet, but now you can find out for sure.
There are also several electronic stations that can help you find sports bras and apparel that are the right fit and style. The stations ask questions about what kind of physical activity you’ll be doing and what style and fit you want the item in, then gives you product suggestions based on your picks.
While you’ll certainly be set to hit the gym or an exercise class after shopping here, Sport Chek Women also offers courses in activities like meditation and cycling, which will be held at the in-store Wellness Centre.
