Flowers by Janie
From colour-drenched arches to refined monochromatic bouquets, Flowers by Janie is one of Alberta’s most sought-after studios for one-of-a-kind, luxury wedding florals.
Known for floral designs inspired by the lush natural diversity of English gardens, the studio embraces large varieties of colours, textures and flower varieties. It also favours flower-heavy arrangements over using greenery as filler, with more than 20 flower varieties often appearing in a single design.
“English gardens are very natural and wildflower-esque. There are lots of different textures and heights, and I try to bring that look into my designs, as well,” says owner Janelle “Janie” Gerestein.
Flowers by Janie offers full-service floral design, including delivery and setup. With take-down service, your wedding blooms can be donated on your behalf to organizations like YW Calgary, at no cost to you. This initiative was awarded Bloom Trust Co.’s Flowering with Purpose Grant in May 2025.
Gerestein sources blooms from B.C. and Alberta flower farms when they’re in season, and even supplements with flowers from her own garden and raised beds.
Client consultations guide each floral design, which is built around the couple’s vision, colour palette, must-have varieties and individual story. Executed with care and intention, wedding florals can be a memorable and immersive experience.
“When your flowers are good quality and have beautiful designs, it elevates the look of your space and guests are really going to notice it with all of their senses,” says Gerestein.
