Local legal startup Goodlawyer was founded in response to a gap in access to justice for Canadians and other supply-and-demand concerns within the legal system. Recognizing that business owners and individuals had everyday legal needs but lacked the budget for retainers, the company created a way to access affordable legal advice without committing to a long-term business relationship with an attorney.

In response to the stress of dealing with legal matters during a global pandemic, the Calgary-based company is currently offering free 15-minute legal advice sessions by phone to clients nationwide. Simply head to its website and fill out a request and you will be booked for a session in as little as two hours. Its roster of attorneys specialize in small business, wills and estates, real estate and family law.

If you’re looking for information on federal measures like Canada’s Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) or small business subsidies, we recommend looking at its COVID-19 latest news and FAQs page before requesting a session.
